Carbon neutral fee
ATBC2008 Association has paid 5,000 euros to Climate Neutral Group for the delivery of 500 carbon credits as Carbon neutral fee for the Annual ATBC meeting in Paramaribo, Suriname, 13-18 June 2008. Certificate
The fee has been invested in a Reforestation project in Malaysia (PDF) aiming at the rehabilitation of a severely damaged Malaysian tropical rainforest on the island of Borneo (Kalimantan), at Danum Valley conservation area, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. PDF See photos at Mongabay.com

Ambition 100% climate neutral
Climate Neutral Group helps organisations to become climate neutral. This can be achieved in 3 steps:
- Reduction of emissions by saving energy, more efficient use of resources and less transportation of people and goods.
- Using renewable energy where possible.
- Offsetting remaining emissions.
By offsetting harmful emissions an organisation is able to take full responsibility for the negative impact of its operations. It enables an organisation to take care of all emissions now while working on (further) reductions and the transition to renewable energy sources.
Offsetting with CO2-credits
The emission of harmfull greenhouse gases is presented in CO2 equivalents. This is the effect on our climate of 1 ton (1000 kilo’s) of CO2 in the atmosphere. A CO2 credit (VER) is a verified reduction of 1 ton of CO2 in de atmosphere. The project results in a reduction of CO2 in de atmosphere and as a result compensates for the emissions of your organisation.
Verification of the projects is done by independent certification organisations that have been accredited by the United Nations, according to the international protocols such as SGS COV, VCS, CCBA and Gold Standard. All CO2-credits used for offsetting are registered in name of Climate Neutral Group at the Triodos Climate Clearing House. This ensures that credits are not sold/used more than over. Accountant BDO monitors if the volume of CO2-credits sold to customers is backed by registered and cancelled credits in name of Climate Neutral Group at the clearing house.
