The future of the Amazon forest is bleak
"The most robust projections of future forest cover and forest intactness scenarios look pretty bleak" said Carlos Peres speaking about current threats on the Amazon forest. In a November 2007 interview with mongabay.com, Peres fielded questions about his work, his outlook for the Amazon forest, and the challenges facing rainforest conservation efforts. At ATBC2003, Aberdeen, Bill Laurance and Carlos Peres organized a symposium entitled "Emerging Threats to Tropical Forests" which was then published by University of Chicago Press (2006).
