The Annual Meeting of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation
Jeremy Hance from
reports about a "symposium hosted by the Smithsonian Institution set to debate the threat level posed by deforestation to rainforests". Based on Mongabay.com, it seems that the most significant threat to tropical forests and their species" depends on scientist's study focus, i.e. climate change for Joe Wright and habitat destruction for Bill Laurance. Since climate is affected by deforestation, and that drought promotes more deforestation and fire, we need to kill two birds with one stone ! More @ FSD2010
