A new documentary about gold rush in the Guiana Shield
Goldmining is are important worldwide issue ; it leads to important damages such as forest deforestation, mercury pollution, wildlife disappearance, desease spread, slavery, prostitution, and many other traumatisms for human beings including pregnancy malformation, AIDS, malaria, alcoolism, murder, etc... Olivier Weber filmed "La fièvre de l'or" (Gold Fever) in the Amazon, mostly in French Guiana, Suriname and Brazil. The documentary is à l'écran in France, hoping it will be translated and will have a broader world wide audience. What is happening in the Guianas is indeed of much concern for the rest of the world.
