François Feer's Bestiaire Amazonien
Scientists may have several lifes at once. François Feer is mostly known as a tropical ecologist, a specialist of Duikers, Elephant and large seeds in Central Africa, of Pecaris, Howler-monkey, Dung beetles, Rats and medium-to-minute seeds in tropical America. He's also the illustrator of Emmon & Feer's Neotropical Mammal Field Guide, of this website. He's also a writer, and a poet. He's publishing his personal approach of the Amazonian fauna in Bestiaire Amazonien, mostly based on his studies in French Guiana at Nouragues. In french in the text, read his original description of the ecology of the Red Howler-Monkey, the Guianan Cock-of-the-rock, the Red Agouti, and of course, of his favorite Red Dung beetle, Oxysternon festivum, and more.
