Gold, Oil, Biofuel and ATBC2008 registration fee
Gold price steadily increased to reached 956.80 UD$ yesterday in New York. www.galmarley.com. Over the last years, this provoked gold mining rush in the Guiana shield with many consequences for tropical rainforests and people. Biofuel needs also generated a high demand for palm oil, soja bean and cereales. As a consequence, rainforest deforestation is increasing world wide to create plantation. Yesterday, Oil barril reached 101.14 UD$ while US$ dropped to its lowest level at 0.6652 € (1.5 $ = 1 €). When we set the registration fee last year, we had somehow already anticipated this increase in market, but not that much. All revenues for ATBC2008 due to change in exchange rate - meaning a loss for $-paying registrants - are used to cover the paypal fee.
