Web Site of the Month : IWOKRAMA RAINFOREST

The Iwokrama International Centre for Rainforest Conservation and Development manages the nearly one million acre (371,000 hectares) Iwokrama Forest in central Guyana to show how tropical forests can be conserved and sustainably used to provide ecological, social and economic benefits to local, national and international communities. Research is clearly identified in Iwokrama’s mission as one of the means of achieving conservation and sustainable utilisation of our forests. Among other research topics, study of NTFPs is a major interest at Iwokrama Centre for people development, sustainable use and conservation of the rainforest diversity.
